Who are we?
More than three decades caring for those who cannot explain what is wrong with them, but feel everything.
Behind the Rican Veterinary Centre lies a story of family, vocation and commitment. We are Carlos and Ricardo Nunes Gómez, brothers, veterinarians and co-founders of the centre, located in the heart of the Prosperidad neighbourhood, in the Chamartín district of Madrid. Since 1993, we have dedicated our professional lives to improving the health and well-being of pets, offering each owner clear, honest and humane treatment.
When we opened our doors more than 30 years ago, we did so with a simple but firm idea: to practise veterinary medicine as it should be done. Without rushing. Without automatic diagnoses. With experience, judgement and listening. That philosophy continues to be the basis of everything we do, and it has made our clinic a benchmark for many families in the neighbourhood and other areas of Madrid.

A team with a name, a surname and a sense of closeness
Nowadays, many clinics operate as chains. The professional changes from one visit to the next, and the patient becomes just another number. At Rican Veterinary Centre, we take care of you. Always. By name and with time.
Carlos and Ricardo not only lead the project: they are present every day in consultations, surgery, emergencies and follow-ups. We like to get to know each case first-hand. We care about understanding the context, the evolution and the small signs that sometimes make the difference in a diagnosis. This continuity is one of our greatest values, and one of the things most appreciated by those who have trusted us for years.
We know that leaving a pet in someone else’s care is not easy. That’s why we strive to make you feel that you are in a place where your companion is safe, well cared for, and where you also matter.

How do we work?
Continuous training and care without labels
We have been practising veterinary medicine for more than three decades, and if one thing is clear to us, it is that we never stop learning. Over the years, we have updated our knowledge, protocols and technology, incorporating the necessary advances to offer a comprehensive and rigorous service. We work with a comprehensive healthcare approach, apply the principles of the One Health model and are committed to continuous training as an essential part of our work.
Furthermore, we firmly believe in inclusive and respectful care. We are a Cat Friendly clinic, where cats receive treatment tailored to their behaviour and sensitivity. We are also an LGTBI+ Friendly space, open, safe and without labels. We care about what you bring, not how you define it.
Personalised service: our unique selling point
Every pet is different. Every owner is different too. That’s why we don’t believe in rigid protocols or standard treatments. We calmly assess each case, explain all the available options and make decisions together with you, tailored to your pet’s needs and your situation.
At the Rican Veterinary Centre, we are committed to individualised medicine, combining medical knowledge with empathy and experience. If we are unsure about something, we investigate it. If there are several alternatives, we explain them to you. And if there is something we cannot handle directly, we refer you to the most appropriate professional, accompanying you throughout the process.
We work by appointment because we do not believe in five-minute consultations. The time we devote to your pet is exactly what it needs, no more and no less. This allows us to examine it in detail, answer your questions, explain what is important and offer real follow-up care.

A clinic with roots in the neighbourhood
We feel part of Prosperidad. We don’t just work here: we live, walk, shop and share our daily lives with many of the people who have placed their trust in us for decades.
We are proud to have accompanied so many families, many of them from their first puppy to their last goodbye. And we are still here, in the same place, with the same commitment. Because we care about the neighbourhood. And because we believe that a trusted clinic does not need to be on a major avenue to offer great service.
More than medicine: prevention, support and closeness
In addition to medical services, we are committed to active prevention, with check-ups, reminders, health plans and campaigns throughout the year. We inform, advise and explain, because we understand that a well-cared-for pet is not only one that is treated in time, but also one that is accompanied with care before anything happens.
We also collaborate with animal shelters and associations, and offer services such as expert reports, issuing veterinary certificates, consultations on nutrition and boarding plans. All with the same approach: professionalism without coldness. Approachability without informality.
What can you expect from us?
Professionalism backed by over 30 years of real experience
Continuous service: you always know who is serving you
Clarity in diagnosis and costs
Complete facilities in the Prosperidad neighbourhood
A team that speaks to you honestly and listens attentively
Up-to-date, personalised medicine tailored to each stage of life
We are the kind of clinic that does not make empty promises. We are simply committed to doing our job well and caring for your pet as if it were part of our own family. Because it is.
VETERINARY CLAIMS
Modification of a rigid and ineffective prescription system. The use of most antibiotics requires culture, which is an added cost. Presvet bureaucracy.
Veterinarians must be able to dispense the complete and necessary treatments, no more and no less.
Animal health is not a luxury. No to 21% VAT.
The authorities must listen to veterinarians.
