Veterinary Surgery
At Centro Veterinario Rican, with over 30 years of experience in veterinary medicine and surgery, we offer safe, planned surgical procedures tailored to the needs of each pet. Our clinic in Prosperidad, Madrid, is equipped with a fully equipped operating theatre and advanced anaesthetic monitoring systems that allow us to operate with maximum safety.
Each surgery is approached from a comprehensive perspective: before, during, and after the procedure, your pet will be in the hands of a team that prioritises well-being and pain control at every stage.
Surgical consultation
Before surgery, we answer all your questions about the procedure, treatment options, planned surgical technique, recovery times, possible complications, and aftercare. We believe in clear and realistic communication so that you can make well-informed decisions
Preoperative
All planned procedures include a complete preoperative assessment of the patient. We perform a physical examination, blood tests, an electrocardiogram and, in certain cases, a chest X-ray. This preoperative protocol helps us to minimise risks and tailor the type of anaesthesia to each individual patient.
Surgeries we perform
We specialise in various surgical areas:
- General and soft tissue surgery
- Digestive surgery (removal of foreign bodies, repair of fistulas, masses, hernias, etc.)
- Oncological surgery (tumour removal, diagnostic biopsies)
- Trauma surgery (fractures, dislocations, torn ligaments, etc.)
- Ocular and dental surgery
- Reproductive system surgery (sterilisations, caesarean sections, uterine or testicular pathologies)
Sterilisation: prevention and health
We perform ovariohysterectomies, oophorectomies, orchiectomies and vasectomies for reproductive, medical or behavioural purposes. Sterilisation prevents conditions such as uterine infections, mammary tumours, prostatic hyperplasia and certain undesirable behaviours.
We always provide personalised information based on the species, sex, age and health status of the patient.
Oncological surgery
In many cases, complete removal of a mass or tumour is the first step in controlling cancer. We perform fine needle aspirations (FNA), biopsies and procedures to remove benign or malignant tumours, with a special focus on mammary tumours in female dogs and cats. After surgery, we assess the need for complementary treatments.
Digestive surgery
When foreign bodies, obstructions, congenital abnormalities or lesions are detected in the digestive tract, we assess the need for surgery. We perform surgery on the stomach, intestine or rectum, with comprehensive post-operative follow-up.
Post-surgical rehabilitation
Where necessary, we recommend tailored physical rehabilitation or physiotherapy protocols. This is key in orthopaedic or neurological surgery, to restore mobility and reduce the risk of complications.
Post-operative care
After the procedure, your pet will remain at the clinic for as long as necessary to ensure a good recovery from the anaesthetic. We will give you detailed instructions for the following days: medication, care, rest and check-ups. We will follow up by telephone and in person, including removing stitches and discharge check-ups if necessary.
Services
All our consultations include a comprehensive examination, individual assessment and, where appropriate, planning of tests or treatments, always explained step by step
VETERINARY CLAIMS
Modification of a rigid and ineffective prescription system. The use of most antibiotics requires culture, which is an added cost. Presvet bureaucracy.
Veterinarians must be able to dispense the complete and necessary treatments, no more and no less.
Animal health is not a luxury. No to 21% VAT.
The authorities must listen to veterinarians.
